Blog - Vogel von Vogelstein - Jesus and the Little Children

For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.

~ Jeremiah 29:11

There are two golden days
about which I never worry —
yesterday and tomorrow.
Those days belong to God.

Therefore, that leaves me
only today.
Any man can fight the battles
of just one day.
Oh, Friend, it is only when

we add the burden of
those two awful eternities

— yesterday and tomorrow —
that we break down.
Those are God’s days —
leave them with Him.
Therefore, I will journey just
one day at a time.

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.

Blog - John Bridges - Christ Healing the Mother of Simon Peter

No temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; He will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, He will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

~ 1 Corinthians 10:13

Blog - Carl Bloch - Jesus and the Samaritan Woman

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

~ John 16:33

Note: Today’s paintings are: Vogel von Vogelstein’s “Jesus and the Little Children”; John Bridges’ “Christ Healing the Mother of Simon Peter”; and Carl Bloch’s “Jesus and the Samaritan Woman”. The anonymous poem is something that’s been tucked into a corner of the medicine cabinet in my bathroom for many years. I read it every day and it always manages to give me a feeling of peace. I wish you all a happy and healthy New Year. God bless in 2016!
