There is not a righteous man on earth who does what is right and never sins.

~ Ecclesiastes 7:20

Notes: Just one verse today, because one is all that’s needed. Sixteen words, but how often do we really stop and think about how much they say?

Being pious is not a good thing. “Pious” is just another word for “self-righteous”, and is certainly not a character trait that we should strive to exhibit. We are all sinners in need of forgiveness, none better than another. Maybe when we all realize that the only person we should try to be better than is the person we were yesterday, our desire to point at other people’s sin will finally be snuffed out by the understanding that the only thing worth pointing at is Jesus. And Jesus delivers us from our sin. We’re all in the same boat, people, and the only way to shore is Jesus.

There is none righteous, no, not one. (Romans 3:10)
