Happy Halloween, fiends! This month has flown by, and as usual, I didn’t have near the amount of time to devote to my spooky-themed creative endeavours as I wanted. There are always many blog posts that don’t get written (I currently have 108 drafts saved in WordPress), and a plethora of pictures and paintings that get filed away in a sketchbook or a filing cabinet in the back of my mind.
This has been an extremely difficult and trying two months (the whole year, but especially the time since August), and while my life feels overwhelming and pretty much joyless these days, I was determined to follow through with one project in particular. Artober.
I did my own version of this drawing exercise that’s meant to spark creative thought in artists, and prompt them to spend a little more time working and less time just thinking about working. I didn’t need any prompting for that last part, but the idea of doing a bunch of pictures that were literally just for fun, and would all be October/Halloween themed? Well, I started planning for it this summer, and had originally wanted to do a full 31 days. Life (and let’s be honest — SATAN) got in the way of that, and come October 1st, I realized I needed to readjust my expectations. So my #13DaysOfHalloween #Artober series was born! Continue reading
